I’m Mikaila. I'm a constantly curious problem solver who designs, writes and builds brand experiences from the server up. Right now I'm designing experiences full-time at R/GA NYC. When I'm not doing that, I also enjoy Muay Thai, thrift stores, home renovation shows, hiking, hybrid Mariachi-Punk music, beer snobbing, soccer, cinema with subtitles, people with autism, public transportation, fellow Canadians, filmmaking, eggs over easy, and concerts where I can skank...

My logo is inspired by the nearly universal geometry and iconicity of traffic signs, colors and movement found in Los Angeles street art, and the buttons on the Sony Playstation controller.

I have a lot of admiration for designer Teiyu Goto, the man behind Playstation's trademarked controller. Rather than follow the precedent set by the original SNES controller, he fought for a more ergonomic form factor and symbols that imply meaning on the action buttons. For me these iconic shapes are emblematic of the importance of designing for the end user and questioning the status quo.
