Making Printing More Personal

THE ASK:

Make Canon Maxify printers the first choice for small business owners.

THE WORK:

Running a business can be a dehumanizing process for some, so we set out to make printing, at least, more simple. We implemented a new taxonomy system to help customers find the correct printer for their needs and abolished the model number naming system, an industry standard that’s altogether unhelpful for consumers.

MY ROLE:

I designed the information architecture of the taxonomy system and applied it to online and in-store touchpoints. I updated the functionality of the Canon Print app; a tool as important as the printer itself in the eyes of small business owners. In addition I streamlined the purchasing decision process for visitors to the website.
